It was updated to version 7.20.1 a few days ago (August 22) but still uses electron30.

I'll keep electron30 if

1. signal still works with it
2. electron30 still gets security update
3. editors/vscode still uses electron30

Does anybody know why a pkg upgrade didn't pick up the new version?

Because it's still the same version that you reinstalled! I think Signal has a feature that checks when it was last updated and disables itself if that's too long ago. By reinstalling it, even the same version, you reset the counter.

That is a crazy application logic.

As of now (19 January 2025) on FreeBSD 14.2-RELEASE, signal-desktop is not available.
Is it being updated or something? - for me, it is a very important application.

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't often get into this area.
Using uname -a gives me
14.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 14.2-RELEASE releng/14.2-n269506-c8918d6c7412 GENERIC amd64

You are probably on quarterly branch. I've pushed 7.36.1 to this branch, the package will be (hopefully) available in the next days.

Anybody got launching issues with signal-desktop-7.38.0?
