It's all about jokes, funny pics...

you know you should just nuke your git history if it looks like the transportation map of a metropolitan area...
Still no circles. But I concur, you should revert all of that and cherry pick onto a new trunk. And you should start at ca 10.000 years back, for good measure.

More sad than funny, but still...

It made me chuckle to see how UFS had completely lost its way over the decades. It is now probably the least universal UNIX filesystem around.

Did no-one over the years want to upstream any changes? Surely compatibility would have been selling point!

I like how in the middle of all these specific versions there's one just called "old" :)
Heh, I would be tempted to select "old" in the hope that it provides the lowest common denominator of features (and thus the most compatible) but alas, this was not the case with UFS. They are all so bizarrely incompatible, almost by design.

Interesting. Didn't know there are so many.

Everyone knows about the VAX? Nothing sucks like a VAX! With a few quick changes, your VAX can clean draperies and curtains. Anyway, the joke is that in the UK, there is a line of vacuum cleaners called "VAX".
yep,

In US, there's also VAX vacations...

and anti-vaxxers (people who don't believe in vaccinations)... As a famous example, there was this US Navy ship commander who was an anti-vaxxer, could not be removed from his post to keep rank-and-file deckhands on his ship safe - and as a result, a US Navy ship under that guy's command could not sail out of New York to Black Sea!

Well, as a follow-up to that story - top court in US declared that this skipper can be actually removed from his post...

Wait... During covid, that is what anti-vax meant? I thought everyone was just hating on old server hardware. ;)

(Especially since many people were prattling on about Bill Gates around then too. One could assume he was just stepping up Microsoft's planned obsolescence game)

No antivax is a whole thing here in the US. (We put the dumb in free-dumb). The president elect is planning to put an antivax guy in charge of health. I wonder if we get another pandemic if all the ruling party will forgo vaccination. In at least one state, government employees are forbidden to suggest vaccination to people. That's what we voted for.

If you hadn't got rid of us Brits
you could have had a serious leader like Liz Truss
How about Boris? Or Maggie, now that would have been a leader for the colonists. They would now have huge opportunities to improve in every aspect.

And if you lot had not resisted so much you would all now use correct metric systems, drive on the right side of the road and drink proper beer. (SCNR)

Ok NapoleonWils0n that one made me laugh. Crivens have you ever seen any of the Saturday Night Live skits where Nate Bargatze, as George Washington, is explaining what the US will be. At one point, he goes into measurements (I don't remember exactly but things like), there will 5280 feet to a mile. Someone asks, How many yards? He answers, No one knows. I might have the example wrong, but in any case, a single example doesn't do it justice.

A link to Bargatze's sketch on it in his second Saturday Night Live appearance
