Following this up, the same "solution" worked for me.

It was a royal pain to upgrade and recompile apps in several jails twice (12.4->13.3, things break, 13.3->14.1), but at least everything is working again.
 
I've been having this in FreeBSD 12, 13, and 14, with Firefox. Haven't been able to track down a cause. 16GB of memory. Seems like certain websites will leak memory like crazy.

Are there some OOM sysctls I can adjust to make it kill faster? Sometimes it'll lock up for 5 minutes before killing something. Doesn't seem very sensible.
