On what do you spend money ?

What little money I have left after all the bills and groceries etc mostly go towards my online assets.

Although, recently I splurged and purchased a modern power supply for my Commodore 64 and 1541-II drive, plus a special adapter to connect the drive to my laptop. I need to rescue the contents of a box full of 30+ years old floppy disks.

There is the vice emulator. And using an USB-floppy drive maybe you can run all programs.

Most of my money I spend in Rum, Zippos and pocket knifes (tree things I collect). The rest of my money I spend in important stuffs like rent, food and my local pub bill.

Swedish snuff and coffee
High quality meat (invest on higher quality and eat less often)
Older laptops and hardware so I can learn and tinker without any fear of real money loss
Close-to-vintage gaming consoles like PS3, GBA, and GBC
Next on the list is equipment to learn about RFID and the likes, like readers and programming plates etc.
Some sign up courses for pentesting or cybersecurity courses and certificates. (Gain a lot free thanks to student email.)

Long term considerations may be to save up for estate or startup company/consulting. But that is the long term.
The grown up thing to do would be to spend money on drivers lessons but the prices are so high that you can find
used laptops with up to 8 gig RAM and okey processor for the same price as 1 lesson.

So ...

I find that the higher the quality of food, the less of it I need to eat.

I went to a very expensive, high-end restaurant where the portions were small, fancy but high quality. I felt just as full as if I ate steak and potatoes at home.
I think that you are on to something because I feel exactly the same.
Found out that milk can differ a lot as well. Currently drinking milk that have higher amount of saturated fat than usual
and are from breeds and grass in Poland. It's little more expensive but feels wonders.

The meat from Crete, when I worked there, were a lot better than most imported meat we have here.

Yeah, I find that paying a bit more up front for quality stuff is a better approach than trying to buy the cheapest thing you can get away with. Living where I do, having a car in good repair is essential expenses. I do blow my money on my car. Bought it used, then found a dealership that does the repairs right. To be honest, I'd rather maintain my car than shop for a new one every few years, and do a lot of things all over again like inspecting it, shopping for insurance, and the like.

For whiskey, for used hardware, for public utilities, for very simple but high-quality food. I cook myself, at home. I buy smartphones once every 7 years, only to stare at CCTV cameras and Telegram. I do not drink coffee, Apple products, cannabis, powders and smoking spice. Sometimes I do not spare money to travel short distances (up to 300 km) to another city where I have not been, wander around the markets, bazaars and see NOT the glamorous tourist life, but the life of ordinary people. I would like to go and see (Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Mongolia). You can really save up money for this. But the war in my country (they call it "country 404") does not give such chances yet. Ukraine today, unfortunately, is the largest open-air concentration camp in the world...

In my student years I spent it on cigarettes, audio cassettes, tape recorders. Sometimes I bought polish magazines with naked girls. Now it's the Internet and all that. But before, only a paper glossy magazine...
About 10 years ago I didn't spare money on rock concerts and rock festivals. Now I would spend a lot, too, but concert activity in my country is on pause. At rock events I spend money on food, beer. As for merch, I can buy a T-shirt.

I am very thrifty. The only exception is food.
I only buy the best, organic food i can get. Price doesn't matter.

For example, i only buy water in glass bottles. I don't drink water from plastic bottles.

Computer hardware. Not much, but once in a while I add a bit of RAM, get a higher capacity drive, change switches or key caps on my keyboard, etc.

I only buy beer in glass bottles, because aluminum cans and plastic bottles ruin the taste of beer. I don't care about water to such an extent... but would invest in a good water filter if need be.

I hate plastic water bottles, too, especially with Coca-Cola. Cans seem to be the same taste as glass bottles, though.
