lxqt desktop, with openbox session (decoration) , caja desktop-manager (file-manager background&icons) , plank ,
Out of curiosity - does your FM icons are clickable in the background ? and its DE ho sets your file manager as background or WM ? Asking as im using VM only and sometimes i want icons on the desktop so i can click on them instead of opening FM etc.

I know you can do it in KDE and GNOME (click on icons in DE's desktop rather than the filemanager to open a file... and I think XFCE, as well. Dunno about others.

… KDE … (click on icons in DE's desktop rather than the filemanager to open a file.

Single click (pictured, but not my usual preference) can be effective in multiple applications, including Dolphin:

If wallpaper is set to folder view, then various folder-related preferences are applicable.

An example – files in my ~/Pictures folder that begin with the phrase 2024:

Accessibility: the context menu (pictured below) does not respond to arrow keys for navigation.

4 monitors: 1200x1920 + 1920x1080 + 1200x1920 + 1920x1200

No, seriously, tipp:

Having at least one monitor turned 90° is really cool for looking at pdfs (left, the almost white only),
source code, working in a shell,...

This looks like my setup. But mine it is a bit different:
workstation.jpg

First monitor and notebook from left to right is a FBSD14.1 machine with a 1920x1080 external monitor. The monitor in the middle it is also a 1920x1080 and it is connected to the huge black box on the right with Void Linux. The T430 it is running OBSD7.5 and it is connected to the last monitor. All tree connected via barrier. (The grey notebook in the middle it is my work tool, from my company, it is not mine). All running XFCE.

My Latitude and my desktop are in sync using Syncthing.

And my Homelab:
homelab.jpg

My homelab it is a old Optiplex9020 with a i5 4gen, 32gb ram, 2tb of memory and it is connected to a old 1920x1080 screen.
It is serving as a nfs server, a backup server and in the future as a virtualization server. It is currently running FBSD13.3.

Curiosity: I called this setup "Hydra", since everything is configured to work as a single system with a bunch of heads. Also, I named every ship of my fleet as BattleStar-something ;-).

See you in the CyberSpace!
Edit: Grammar

 Okay. You won. ?

Well, I could put my laptop also onto the table, too [only one - wtf do you need three for?],
and my 22TB data-"server" is upstairs in the attic. But I will not show a picture of it. I added six HDD-slots I built myself to it, to fit in all the disks. (quite) ugly, but useful.
And I also cannot pose with an electric guitar bass ?. I have a simple plastic flute *cough*...
And there is nothing to smoke here.
But I do have the 'Raising Hell', 12" vinyl. ?
But this ain't a competition (said the loser ?)

No, seriously:

I simply wanted to show my config because it's really good for work efficiency to have at least one monitor turned by 90°, which I recommend you may try with at least one of yours, for coding, or if you do lot of stuff in a shell.
It's simply a --rotate left you add to that monitor in the xrandr line of your .xinitrc.
If you never had, just try it!

You could have pointed out those notebook stands
Those are really cool, and to be recommended!
Since I've experienced the usage with such a guy I never use my laptop without one anymore.

 Okay. You won. ?
Nice, I didn't know it was a competition ;-)

wtf do you need three for?
My Latitude it is now my current main workstation, I just bought a few months ago from the company I work for (it was cheap and the money they collect selling old notebooks it is donated to charity).
The desktop rig it is a gift from my boss, it is his old gaming rig (I just changed the box to the haf xb evo, it was a generic white tower before) and it is running linux bc FBSD don't play well with this gpu.
And the T430 it is my old workstation before I left my country and moved to Europe, now I use it for deepweb navigation, Isolated from the rest of the setup.

Nice you have a attic, I always wanted one.

It doesn't matter if it is ugly or not, it is your creation and it is functional, you should be proud of.

And I also cannot pose with an electric guitar bass ?
Don't use the G word, it is offensive. The name of this holy instrument it is The Bass.

I indeed try it with the two monitors on the arm stands, but didn't like tho. Maybe it is a matter of adaptation, IDK.

Yup, they are really good and portable. Also, you can "hide" charges, cables and external disks behind it.

EDIT: More context bellow:
My homelab was a gift from the IT team of the company I work for. They gave to me 4 Optiplex9020 to play with:

Ain't Malta Europe?

Hey, according to my bombastic musical expertise I'm proud to found out all by myself already
it's not blown into, nor the one having the long row of white and black keys.
you should be proud of.
Thanks.
I really am a bit. That's why you guys will not see a foto of it. Because some will laugh.
Maybe it is a matter of adaptation, IDK.
Yes, kind of. It's like starting to play golf. You know within the first half hour if it's for you, or not.
And of course also simply a choice of personal taste, and style of work.
To me it's great.
I got my third monitor as a gift, and thought:"What to do with it? It would be a shame to leave it unused in the attic since I have place on my desk left. So why not try it 90° turned?"
Since then I was looking forward to have a second 90° turned one.

P.S.: Don't wish for an attic. It only fills up with garbage over the years. Especially if you have a wife with shoes, and handbags.
And it only becomes a growing, brewing urge you know you have to declutter it some day, but not this year.
They gave to me 4 Optiplex9020 to play with
...but not the bottles of...cleaning fluid.
It's not my business. I've been down that road, drinking alone at the computer.
When I observed myself getting drunk every weekend I realized I need to pull the emergency break.

Thought about to realize a cluster*cough* with those 4?
⛳ . ?️‍♂️
