First of all i am bar noob. Using sway/wayland i have a nice textual i3status.

I want to assign certain key-combinations in the window manager to do some things.
Problem is different applications capture different keys already and they should not conflict with the window manager assigned keys.
An example for workspace stuff sway uses by default e.g. windows_key-1.
But...

I have problems in configuring a nice bar for wayland.
1.swaybar. This very basic maybe too basic ?
2.waybar. For some weird raisons starting waybar shows only an empty space and lots of errors and warnings. It looks like the code was made for linux.
3.sfwbar. I managed to have sfwbar vertical...
I'm in the process of trying wayland (using x11-wm/hikari) for the first time.
At least one application I am using (specifically devel/jetbrains-clion) appears not to work under wayland while it works fine under X.
I've read about xwayland and that seems to be exactly what I need in this...
Hello, after a problematic journey with drm-kmod, I finally managed to get wayland working on Renoir.
Currently, I am using Wayfire as my compositor, and everything works well.
Issue is, every time I try to start emacs GUI, the whole operating system hangs, with no possible input to kill it...
Here's what I tried to start kde5plasma on wayland:
#! /bin/sh
export XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland
ck-launch-session dbus-run-session /usr/local/bin/startplasma-wayland
#ck-launch-session dbus-run-session /usr/local/bin/startplasma-wayland.sh
And here's a small snippet of the running processes...
Dear community,
I am using sway-1.5.1_2 (Wayland) and wlsunset-0.1.0 (which is a Wayland equivalent to redshift) with i915 drm drivers. wlsunset is said to work with sway in principle.
While redshift is working fine under xorg with the drm driver, wlsunset runs without any error messages but...
I'm curious because it's a pretty unique combination with Wayland on FreeBSD. I've taken a look from time to time but never tried it myself (and I have to admit that I'm not even running FreeBSD yet, because I wanted to wait for "13" to give it a first spin on my new laptop).
For me the...
Adrian De Groot wrote this Blog post about his recent work on KDE on Wayland for FreeBSD.
I'm hyped to see the updates coming in pkg repo so one can enjoy a Wayland desktop experience on FreeBSD.
Prerequisites are
FREEBSD 13.0 64
Intel l915kms
Disabling sddm.
**Edit:**
As of 2021-05-13 with...
Before I just blow away my FreeBSD 13 Virtual Box instance, I thought I would check in with the gurus. I have been experimenting with FreeBSD 13 in VBox for a day. I used caution and bectl'd my way to a working system that had KDE installed. I removed my last bectl and then...
I too hastily...
