I've installed FreeBsd 12 on my laptop and Wifi, although works, is quite slow. It's way slower than it was at Linux on the same laptop.
Is that how it is in Freebsd?
I have recently been trying to get FreeBSD setup on my HP Pavilion 15-p051us laptop with an AMD A10-5745M APU. Everything is working except for backlight control via the acpi_video module. I found the HP Envy Touchsmart page (https://wiki.freebsd.org/Laptops/HP_Envy_TouchSmart_m6), which has the...
Hello community, as I’ve asked to my friend Trev (but I solicit him very much): here’s my problematic:
I was thinking about laptop and I’ve seen a lot of threads/discussions told that a laptop (the Thinkpad X1 carbon 6th generation from Levono ) is just the perfect desktop to use FreeBSD « out...
My laptop uses the RTL8188EE chipset for WiFi, which recently landed support in FreeBSD with this commit.
I'd like to be able to use this new driver on my laptop while remaining as close to a "stable" system as possible. What's the best way to go about doing this? I'm not sure if the driver...
I'm playing around with PF on my laptop, mostly to get a better understanding of how it works so I can get it working on my home server.
I'm attempting to block all incoming traffic except that which I'm expecting to receive from Syncthing and KDE Connect. This is the content of my pf.conf...
I would like to share an article about power management in the FreeBSD system.

Hi.
I just found out THIS Razer laptop has a mechanical keyboard. IDK if it is good, or not or what, but are you aware of any other laptop with mechanical keyboard?
Cheers!
Hi,
I described my way of simplifying the FreeBSD boot process for laptop/desktop machines.

So I got a new laptop, and I thought I'd install FreeBSD on it like I did with my old one. Dual booting with Windows.
But it seems this hardware probably won't work well with FreeBSD. It has Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 Wireless Network Adapter (with wi-fi and Bluetooth), Intel HD Graphics 620...
How can I modify FreeBSD boot/startup process so it doesn't check or try detecting a CD-ROM/DVD?
I am using `FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-p3` on a 2004 `Toshiba` laptop as a pfSense box. The laptop has what seems to be an incompatible (or most likely just too old) DVD player. Some I/O identification...
I have a MacBook 12" with an Intel Core M processor (https://www.apple.com/macbook/specs/) that boots into FreeBSD 11.1 just fine from a USB key but has no keyboard once I reach the sysinstall screen.
I am new to FreeBSD and have recently installed it on my Laptop that has 16 Gb of ram. I chose to use ZFS for the hdd and installed mate for my desktop environment. I've noticed that at times the machine will be using over 90 percent of the ram ... typically after I've mounted and external hard...
I have a "HP UltraSlim Docking Station" (product number B9C87AA) for my HP EliteBook Folio 9470m laptop. The docking station provides power and ports (usb, vga, DisplayPort, ethernet) to the laptop when the laptop is docked.
On my laptop, I run FreeBSD:
tingo@kg-elitebook$ uname -a

Does anyone know any good brand and model of laptop to use with FreeBSD? I mean, it's already got a battery and everything, you can find them cheap used, you can shove them in a mini fridge... with USB3 and eSATA, like... why not?
Hardware is sometimes hit and miss... chipsets, controllers...
Laptop: Asus model X540S.
Wireless: Atheros model AR5B125 does seem to work, as well as most other hardware.
Xorg "intel" driver fails because no valid screens are found in FreeBSD.
I have attached files from a working Fedora 25 Linux distribution on this laptop: the output of "lspci -vv" as...
I have asked a similar question in this thread(59187#post-342471) but I'm not the author of the thread so I figure a new thread would be a good idea.
My laptop comes with Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 wireless card and I have all the reason to believe that it will not be supported well through its...
Hi,
I tried to install freeBSD 10.3 on hp zbook 17 G3 and want to update freeBSD laptop wiki page (https://wiki.freebsd.org/Laptops) with my findings but could not find a way to do. The page encourages you to do so if you test new laptop.

Hi,
I am considering the Thinkpad T460 as my next laptop. Could anyone please let me know about the hardware support? Would it be a decent choice to run FreeBSD on?
The T460 is not listed here, any input would be helpful.
Thanks.
