function and backspace keys

Hi everyone,

I got this keyboard that has the function key working well when combined with the up arrow key (sending the cursor to the beginning of a text), the down arrow key (sending the cursor to the end of a text), the left arrow key (sending the cursor to the beginning of the line in which the cursor is) and the right arrow key (sending the cursor to the beginning of the line in which the cursor is) but when combined with the backspace key, it deletes the character before the position where the cursor is, rather than the one in the position where the cursor is.

Would anyone know if there is a way to set the function key to work in combination with the backspace so that the result is the deletion of the character in the position where the cursor is?

Based on this post, I was able to set control+D to delete the character in csh.
Would anyone know what is the command to delete the character in order to set control+D to delete the character in a desktop environment?

Edit: I apologize. I just figured out that it wasn't necessary to edit .cshrc as in the post I mentioned since control+D works without this editing. I only need to know how to set this in a desktop environment (for example, in Xfce, I could set a keyboard shortcut to have control+D to delete a character, but I don't know what to enter as for the command).
