3D XPoint technology had Intel Optane as its sole implementation. I'd say, 3D XPoint was a good idea (yes, hyped) at its inception; unfortunately it didn't scale and therefore became an increasing less attractive idea as a solution for low latency, highly durable persistant memory (Intel Optane $559M Impairment with Q2 2022 Wind-Down).
