Solved Unable to boot to new installation on laptop

I put FreeBSD 14.2 on my new laptop but it will not boot, or rather the ZFS pool I created is not being seen even though I am prompted to unlock the drive.

The drive was nda0 and geli is on nda0p3. For reference, I used my automated installer, but that should NOT matter.

If I reboot back to the USB install disk, I can unlock the drive and import the ZFS pool. What am I missing?

Yes, that was it, I am using a custom kernel and merely had to add NVMe support. I will need to cherry-pick other drivers so that the laptop is fully functional.

Here is a piece of advice: unless you really, really need it - drop the custom kernel. Stock kernel is good enough, and saves you this problem.

Yeah, I have a custom kernel just for pf so I can do traffic shaping. Other than that, I don't need it.
