Postfix configuration checks

Hi,

I have an issue receiving mail from mail providers (e.g., Gmail). I wonder how experienced FreeBSD admins diagnose this issue (either through location checking or a tool), the locations I looked at are as below. Any guidance is appreciated, thanks.

Maillog

If I look at the /var/log/maillog when I send an email to myself I see:

Postfix Config

1. Here are my postfix configurations for sender:

smtpd_client_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unknown_reverse_client_hostname, reject_unauth_pipelining

smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_invalid_helo_hostname, reject_non_fqdn_helo_hostname, reject_unauth_pipelining

smtpd_sender_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_non_fqdn_sender, reject_unknown_sender_domain, reject_unauth_pipelining

smtpd_relay_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unauth_destination

smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_non_fqdn_recipient, reject_unknown_recipient_domain, reject_unauth_pipelining, reject_unverified_recipient

smtpd_data_restrictions = permit_mynetworks,permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_multi_recipient_bounce,reject_unauth_pipelining

2. Here is my virtual_transport config:

This is the hostname, not the domain. I'm guessing myorigin isn't set correctly. You send email to a domain, not to a hostname.

Postfix Basic Configuration

myorigin defaults to myhostname and if myhostname is mail.example.com, then test@mail.example.com should work

[private/dovecot-lmtp]: No such file or directory;

This makes me think something about your maildir and user lookups are not configured correctly.

Postfix doesn't think test@mail.example.com is a valid user. Gonna need more configuration information.

It looks to me like NOQUEUE - nowhere to put the message, because private/dovecot-lmtp socket doesn't exists
