Which virtual machine do you prefer and why ?
Personally I use both. And they work both fine on Windows & Linux.

SBCL, because of its live-hacking capabilities. If I absolutely have to decide between those two listed above, I’d choose .Net. It has a nicer tooling in my opinion.

As you said, they both work fine.
Usually, the choice depends more on what the customer used before than personal preference.
People who were using .NET Framework + ASP.NET on IIS usually migrate towards .NET Core on Kubernetes, just like Java EE users migrate towards Springboot/Quarkus.

Even vscode does not work in the Linux Emulator. The Linux emulator is as good as .... shit ...

The mere mention of M$ is enough to "trigger me"...so JVM it is...if I have to at all...since I mostly do C, C++, and python.
