I have been used to using
gs ... ... ... | cat > /dev/lpt0 but my mfc with a parallel port is hopelessly jammed with paper in the inner rollers, so I am wondering if the /dev/lpt0 has ever been switchable to a usb attached or ethernet attached printer,, skipping the printcap and/or cups setup(s), and if so, may have more questions. [ or the -dDEVICE=hl7x0 switched also, or instead... ]
