How can I get ffmpeg 7.1 on freebsd 14.2 amd64?

./configure --prefix=/opt/mplayer && make

has a good chance of working. If it fails see whether the failure has to do with any of the patches in the port.

I saw this ffmpeg install new version built with poudriere
It looked gnarley...with reboots and messing with system....
bit nervous to try it...

hi mate

its not too bad
takes about 4 or 5 hours to build on my Dell XPS 15 with 16G

might be quicker using poudriere-devel
which can use packages

having to unininstall and then reinstall all the apps
that depend on ffmpeg is a bit of a pain

but not as scary as it sounds
