Ha! So, after 15 years of using FreeBSD and ZFS, I decided to try a minor release upgrade (from 14.1 to 14.2) in place. Usually, I build fresh whenever there's a release and I've never experienced a catastrophic failure (ZFS rocks). But, these days, I am both comfortable with FreeBSD and more trusting of the release process (or at least my ability to recover from practically anything short of some zfs corruption)... and yay! It upgraded painlessly... can't wait to try 14.x to 15 when that day comes (Q2?). Thanks FreeBSD devs for a great OS and having sane upgrade processes.
