Hello,
Yesterday I finally upgraded from 14.1-RELEASE-p7 to 14.2-RELEASE-p1. The computer boots and works, but:
After initializing the disks, the drm kernel modesetting gets enabled and the console goes black, in fact the monitor goes into sleep mode, even the status diode turns orange as if the computer was turned off. I can log in blindly and execute
This is the last thing I see on the console after boot, as I put in the password for GELI, disks get initialized and then I am able to read up to this point (before the monitor turns off) approximately:
So I'm assuming that the amdgpu modesetting driver is doing something wrong. Any ideas how to continue troubleshooting? It's not like I can't use the machine, I only use the graphical environment. But the fallback is nice to have in case something goes wrong.
here is the entire dmesg: pastebin
Some additional info:

startx
, then the desktop environment starts and works as it always has (3D acceleration works). If I try to do CTRL+ALT+F[1-8] out of graphical environment, then the screen just freezes. I tried it and I can blindly log into console and do things, but the screen is frozen as if I was still in the graphical environment. The screen unfreezes only at CTRL+ALT+F9 and return to graphical environment. This is the last thing I see on the console after boot, as I put in the password for GELI, disks get initialized and then I am able to read up to this point (before the monitor turns off) approximately:
