Hello there,
I just installed FreeBSD and I love it, the only inconvenience that I have is that the multimedia keys of my keyboard aren't working. I have followed a lot of of guides but still they aren't working nor being recognized.
Guides followed:
1)...
the XF86AudioLowerVolume etc. keys don't make it neither into xev not kbdscan. /boot/loader.conf has those
acpi_ibm_load="YES"
acpi_video_load="YES"
i915kms_load="YES"
Do I need devd or iichid and what would I configure. E.g. vermaden has some great stuff, but not on those multimedia keys...
HID devices include keyboards, gamepads/joysticks, penpads/touchpads, mice... This can be for any type of HID device, from the old architecture, from x86-input, from the newer driver architecture, from Antimicro or Bluetooth. Any HID that runs on FreeBSD.
Even plans on what to do with it. Or...
Enabling usbhid
usbhid gives the ability to use newer advanced hid drivers. The ability to use usbhid must be turned on from /boot/loader.conf:
hw.usb.usbhid.enable="1"
Then, load the driver through /etc/rc.conf:
kld_list="usbhid"
Turning this module on from /boot/loader.conf won't work. Once...
I am using FreeBSD-13.0 with KDE and the keyboard is a basic model HP 100 which has just 3 extra keys - Volume Mute, Volume Down and Volume Up keys. I am wondering how to bind the above functions to these keys. Is there any HOWTOs or some lead to get this working. I tried xev, but it seems not...
I have been using this portable keyboard under Linux for 3-4 years now. Under FreeBSD all keys are working except the Vol +/- so I can't adjust the volume from a distance. Under Linux when I pressed the volume keys an OSD used to appear which I guess is a part of pulseaudio. Is there a way to...

With the default keyboard layout, the multimedia keys originally work (e.g., volume up/down etc). As soon as I change the layout from US to UK, they no longer work. The events are still being triggered but KDE does not respond to them. Changing the layout back to US doesn't resolve the issue...
I used to use uhidd to get my multimedia keys to work. Now I see the following error when it starts up
ld-elf.so.1: Cannot open "/usr/local/lib/libcuse4bsd.so"
This appears to be due to the devd rule that is installed into /usr/local/etc/devd when installing uhidd.
# cat uhidd-devd.conf...

Does anyone know how to enable volume control on keyboard? It worked with windows and linux systems.
I have a Logitech G15 keyboard and it has additional key block (https://secure.logitech.com/assets/28553/28553.png). The problem is they are not uhid compatible, so usbhidctl is not detecting them. Logitech is not shipping drivers for FreeBSD and even with Google help I found no clue how to...
Hello everyone,
I have a keyboard with several custom keys on it and I'm wondering if it's possible to use them somehow on FreeBSD. Tried out x11/xev but it does not detect any of the extra keys sadly. Being fairly new to FreeBSD I'm out of ideas, but maybe someone else can help?
Regards,
Daniel
