Hello all, I have been trying to play Quake 2 on my machine. My attempt requires me to compile a package, so I tried. However, I got some strange errors. I would just brush it of, however, this is a continuing problem. I first tried a PORTS package, and I got the same. Can someone help me with this?

I´m trying execute the veteran 'heretic' game on my FreeBSD 14.0-RELEASE with the sound output (/dev/dsp) disabled, but i can´t find a way (if there is).
Any help very appreciated.

Unreal Tournament 3 works under Wine Proton 8.0 with FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE-p4/5.
My main issue is that there are many times where the frame rate will drop to 20 or under when it shouldn't considering my hardware.
I have a Ryzen 5 3400G paired with an Nvidia GTX 1050.

It would be nice if these would also become available on FreeBSD. (I lack C/C++ knowledge)
I have a problem with the autodownloading of maps in OpenArena (games/openarena). The map is downloading normally, but at the end of the download it crashes with an error message:

Hi! Everytime I try to set custom settings in games/gzdoom such as custom hotkeys, graphics or audio, it works for the current session but it is reset to defaults on the next launch. My settings do not seem to be saved anywhere.
I got my wads from Steam if that's of any help, and it doesn't...
Hi all,
If you are a fan of Half-Life, you can now easily play this on FreeBSD. I have forked a number of projects in an attempt to make things easier to get up and running without relying on a port (which due to licensing is unlikely to be an option for binary distribution).
The following...
I am trying to setup punkbuster for iortcw, so I can join PB enforced servers.
I have the command line version of pbsetup.run for 32-bit linux games, and a linux compatibility environment setup.
However, pbsetup.run does not want to take any path for rtcw, I have tried ~/.wolf/ and...
Greetings, I installed games/chocolate-doom and audio/guspat and haven't been able to get any sound out of the game. I initially thought it was because of mis-configured MIDI emulation but realized that the in-game sound effects are controlled separately. I also noticed Chocolate Doom's startup...
I was wondering if anyone has managed to run Prey (2006) on Freebsd with its native linux port, like doom 3 or quake 4 it uses ID tech 4 engine, so I think that it could run the same way the linux-doom3 port does, I don't know.
I already tried using prey's data files as a sort of mod for an...
Can anyone guide me through the steps to install dxx-rebirth/Descent 1 (I've got the Descent 1 "Anniversary Edition" CD) onto BSD 12?
I've read the included pkg info, but it's nebulous, at best. It says you need the original .exe(s) (setup.exe?) file(s) from the CD, which I've got, but it...
John Romero has finally released his new Doom levels, the SIGIL Megawad. You will need the original Doom 1993 registered game files to play the SIGIL Megawad.
So, now that we have some new levels from the old master, what is your favorite Doom port and why do you favor it above the other Doom...

Hi folks!
I recently installed freeBSD on a virtual machine just to play around with it and got a few questions.
I've downloaded a port called doom (I assume it's the original source files) and another called freedoom. Doom one refused to build with 'Failed to open 'linuxdoom-1.10.src.tgz'...
