X Clipboard and tmux

Selecting with mouse from a xterm with tmux for inserting outside,
or trying to copy a selected text in an xterm with tmux does not work.

I just tried copy & pasting in xterm using tmux, shift+Insert and clicking to mouse wheel and it does work, did you try these?

I just tried that: selected from outside and inserted in tmux with 'shift insert', not with the wheel.

That works, but not in the other direction.

But I normally do not try what I do not know. What is that with 'shift insert'?

I normally select with the left button and insert with the middle button.

PS.
It also inserts with Shift + Middle button.
And if I select in tmux with the left button while clicking shift, then I can paste outside.
Is it perhaps a functionality of tmux????

I just deleted from .tmux.conf:

set -g mouse on

And got normal X11 behavior.

It seems that it is a tmux feature that with that (not necessary) configuration, copy and paste need Shift to be pressed.

It should be documented somewhere.
