pkg 2.1.2

Well number one Github is source tree.
It gets sent to package builder machines. That build takes days so there is delay between ports and packages.

Also you have Quarterly Branches and Latest Branches so it depends on what you are running in FreeBSD.conf.
.

why is it that the pkg version I have in 14.2 is 2.1.0 but in FreeBSD's pkg GitHub page the latest version is at 2.1.2 ?
"Latest" has 2.1.2, "quarterly" has 2.1.0. So you're on the quarterly packages (which is the default for -RELEASE versions).

Ports tree has been updated 4 days ago, it will take time for the package builders to pick up the changes. Builds have been done, it should soon appear in the latest package repos, if it's not already there.
